Safety

One of Insul-Lite’s™ highest priorities is the safety of its employees and customers.

Employees have been trained in emergency first aid. All of our employees are aware of the importance of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and how it impacts their daily responsibilities.

Weekly discussions regarding safe work practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ergonomics in the workplace has put safety at the forefront of every employee’s mind. We kindly ask that our customers be aware of the potential risks associated with entering a glass plant, and carefully adhere to the signage and marked areas in the shop.

In a lean manufacturing facility, safety is a paramount philosophy that permeates every aspect of operations. It begins with proactive hazard identification and risk assessment, followed by the implementation of robust safety protocols, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Safety is prioritized at all levels, fostering a culture of accountability, open communication, and employee empowerment. Regular safety audits, incident reporting, and root cause analysis ensure that lessons are learned and preventive measures are implemented, creating a safe working environment where employees’ well-being is valued above all else.

Several safety processes play a vital role in maintaining a secure working environment. These include comprehensive job hazard analysis (JHA), where potential risks are identified and mitigated through proper safety protocols. Standardized work procedures ensure consistency and adherence to safety guidelines, while visual management tools, such as safety signs and labels, promote awareness and communication. Regular safety training, equipment inspections, and near-miss reporting contribute to continuous improvement and the prevention of accidents, fostering a culture of safety and well-being for all employees.

Measurables are carefully tracked to assess and improve safety performance. Key indicators such as incident rates, near-miss reports, and safety observations provide valuable data for identifying areas of improvement. The facility maintains an adequate number of certified first aiders, trained in emergency response and basic medical care, to promptly address any injuries or health emergencies. Regular safety audits and compliance checks ensure that safety protocols are followed, creating a proactive and accountable safety culture throughout the facility.

Certifications

Since its inception in 1988, Insul-Lite™ has always been committed to providing the highest quality products and service to our customers.

As Energy Star has become more prevalent in the market place, the end user is requiring higher energy efficiency ratings on their windows. Window companies that have been certified to supply Energy Star windows now require their sealed units to be certified by a quality control agent called the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA).

In the on-going pursuit of excellence, Insul-Lite™ has invited IGMA into its facility to confirm the high quality of both its processes and products. This certification process includes rigorous testing of Insul-Lite’s™ sealed units and an in-depth inspection of our production plant. These tests are repeated every two years to ensure that the units produced are constantly meeting, or surpassing, the industry standards.
